Moisture and Saturation Analyzer
- Insulating
oil has a significant role in the operation of electrical equipment;
however, moisture in the insulating oil causes problems leading to costly
failures

A portable instrument to monitor moisture and saturation in insulating
oil in electrical equipment such as transformers and circuit breakers on-site
was developed. The development consisted of design, construction, prototyping,
commercialization and marketing
Regeneration
and reuse of insulating oil and absorbent material
- Oxidative
aging of insulating oil has a detrimental effect on the operation of
electrical equipment. Just as you change the lubricating oil in your
car every 8000 km, the insulating oil in electrical equipment also needs
changing but not as frequently
- Insulating
oil can be reclaimed using absorbent material, however, the disposal
of waste absorbent material is environmentally unacceptable and regeneration
technologies are needed
- A
regeneration process for insulating oil and absorbent material was developed
by our Director of Technology
Polymer
modification processes and characterization
- A
polymer modification process which was patented worldwide and received
the gold award for innovation from the Government of Canada in 1987
was jointly developed by our Director of Technology. The process was
successfully commercialized
